Resources for Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15- October 15th. It is this month that celebrates the anniversary of independance from 5 Latin American countries that include Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatamala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico declared it’s independance day on September 18th, and Chile on September 15th.

Interesting 2008 facts about Hispanic Americans from the United States Census Bureau:
- 10.4 million: The number of Hispanic family households in the U.S. in 2008.
Of these households:
- 62%:Â Â Included children younger than 18.
-  66%: of  consist of a married couples.
- 43%Â consist of married couples with children younger than 18.
- Â 70%Â of Hispanic children live with two parents.
