Home made thanksgiving art from a young child

The sound of laughter from children, seeing them have a desire to learn and explore new things, seeing the light bulb turn on in their little minds, teaching them, learning from them, watching them have a desire to be part of something larger than themselves, etc. These are just a few things out of so many to be thankful for.

 Alumni Success stories from MCTC - "JoAnne Pastel: Charting a New Path" JoAnne is President and Founder of Farmer's Hat Productions, a children's product company that is internationally known and inspires kids to cultivate self-esteem by educating them about sports, outdoor exploration and active play.

 Six years ago, JoAnne Pastel was at a turning point. After nearly a decade working in sales and as a stockbroker, the MCTC alumna had recently given birth to her first child and knew she didn’t want to go back to the corporate world. “My heart just wasn’t in that life anymore,” she said. “But I wasn’t sure what to do next.”

Fast-forward to 2009. Today, Pastel is the award-winning author of the Bur Bur and Friends line of children’s books. She runs Farmer’s Hat Productions, a growing, Wayzata-based company. And she’s got big plans—the company has garnered national attention and is well positioned for future growth. (more…)
