The video below has shock value that will change your life. As a parent, watching it rattled me to the core about the realities our kids face in today's society.  

It is our responsibility to give our kids them the tools they need for healthy living. Let me begin by saying the video itself is about 20 minutes long. Even if you just watch the first 5 or 10 minutes, trust me when I say it may be worth it. Our lives and the lives of our children may depend on it

When JoAnne and I started writing the Bur Bur and Friends children's book series, our goal was to encourage families to get active together. Our books use a cast of multicultural characters who teach kids about sports and healthy living. The Surgeon General has said the key to preventing obesity in our kids is early childhood education. We need to take that to heart and be role models as well. The speaker in the video is Jamie Oliver and his one wish is to teach every child about food. He has recently come to the United States to start a revolution of awareness around healthy eating and living. He has a new reality television show that will premier Friday, March 26, 2010 8:00-9:00 p.m., CST on the ABC Television Network. His passion is to make a difference by demonstrating what people can accomplish when they work together for a common cause.
