Back to School Shopping via Social Media is Increasing

Mobile phones and social media sites will have an increased influence in this year's back-to-school shopping season. A recent Deloitte online poll was conducted surveying parents who plan to use sites such as Twitter and Facebook to:

  • Find Promotions: 64%
  • Browse Products: 42%
  • Read Reviews: 26%
  • Visit Retailers' Pages: 20%
  • Watch a Retail/Product Video: 17%
  • Post Comments or Feedback: 14%

About the Survey: The survey was commissioned by Deloitte and conducted online by an independent research company between July 9 and 11, 2010. The survey polled a nationally representative sample of 1,050 parents of school-age children in grades K – 12, and has a margin of error for the entire sample of plus or minus three percentage points.
